Family Spring Break in Costa Rica

 In Family Vacation

Your spring family vacation with teens in Costa Rica will be full of adventure.

A Spring break family vacation to Costa Rica, with teenagers, can be full of adventure, excitement, discovery, and family bonding.

At Croc’s Resort & Casino in Jacó, Costa Rica, the all-inclusive family suites are the perfect way to enjoy your time together, or apart. As an all-inclusive resort, there is no need to worry about dishing out spending money to the kids each morning; they can eat and drink all day long and it’s all included in the tab. This makes it super easy to budget for your family vacation and leave plenty aside for fun, eco-adventure activities.

Spring break can trigger an aversion to crowds before you even arrive; however, there’s no need to worry about that during a spring break vacation at Croc’s Resort in Costa Rica. The resort is situated at the quiet, North-end of Playa Jacó, right on the beach.

Featuring a massive, free-form swimming pool, poolside snack bar with good eats all day long, and even a crocodile sanctuary, there is plenty of fun for the entire gang right there in the resort. Volly ball on the beach, bike rentals, kayaks, and even horses for rent, the kids will never get bored. Meanwhile, mom can spend an afternoon in the spa and dad can play a few rounds in the casino.

Nearby Central Pacific Costa Rica beaches

In addition to Playa Jacó, there are several stunning beaches close to the resort.

  • Playa Herradura is a black-sand beach just north of Croc’s where the gentle waves are perfect for stand up paddle boarding, swimming or jet skiing. Watch the fishing boats come in and out of the bay and nearby Los Sueños Marina, lounge on the beach, swim and enjoy delicious ceviche at any one of the great little beach front restaurants in the area.
  • To the south is Playa Hermosa, which is quieter and a surfing hot spot. This is not a swimming beach and so the waters should never be entered without some kind of floatation device. Novice surfers and those who are learning should not surf here and the current is strong and the rip-tides fierce. This beach is great for long walks, beach lounging, surfing and sunsets. Check out The Backyard on Saturday afternoons for a weekly, local surf contest and do join in if you’re up for it!
  • About an hour south of Jacó, Manuel Antonio National Park is a gem of a park. The trails through the rainforest lead to the park’s stunning white-sand, tree-lined beaches and great for families who love to hike together. Surrounded by a lush cove, this beach is perfect for swimming and lulling about in the gentle waves. Watch out for the monkeys; they’re cute, but they love to steal your stuff!

Other great things to do with the family during your Croc’s Resort Costa Rica Spring vacation

A whopping 90% of Costa Rica’s animal life, and 50% of its plants live in the rainforest canopy. That makes ziplining through the canopy an exciting way to get a look at all of it. Nearby Jacó Ropes adds bridges, swing walks, and a ropes course to the mix for even more fun.

Tortuga Island is a 45-minute cruise from Herradura, about 4 miles up the road. Spend the day on the island, hiking the trails, enjoying the warm and gentle surf, and snorkeling or diving the reefs and shipwrecks just offshore;  manta rays, angelfish, dolphins, turtles, and more live in these waters.

An ATV, mountain bike or dune buggy ride through the jungle with expert guides will definitely be a hit. A few different tour operators offer the option to visit waterfalls, run through rainforest or cruise the beach. Ask your Croc’s concierge for advice on which tours to take and book them in advance to save!  Teens will most likely want their own ride to enjoy the ride along the trails and crossing rivers.

Other tour operators offer horseback rides to the Bijagual Waterfall, allowing you to explore the area at a more leisurely pace. Plus, there’s almost always a man with horses for hire on the beach in front of the resort. Nothing like riding down the beach and through the surf!

Life in Costa Rica is always tranquil and your teens will have plenty to talk about before, during and after your family vacation. It’s all in the vacation planning and the staff at Croc’s can help you select and book the right tours for your family.

Spring Break is a great time to visit and enjoy making treasured memories to last a lifetime. Costa Rica, with its fantastic biodiversity and the unique ways to enjoy it, has so many options for families with teens.
